About Burden Dare

Burden Dare Ltd was founded by Gavan Burden in August 2007 out of the private sector division of Alexander Hughes Interim Management.

Gavan set up Alexander Hughes Interim Management in 2001 to operate at executive levels and complement the Search & Selection businesses within the Alexander Hughes Group.  As Managing Director Gavan had a 25% share in AHIM and orchestrated its sale to Serco in August 2007 who wanted the Public Sector business.  At that time he founded Burden Dare with the private sector business and a new business proposition.

Gavan first moved into the world of interim management in 1999 when he was hired by Harvey Nash plc to lead, manage and expand its newly acquired interim management subsidiary, IMIT; he also has experience of being an interim manager himself.

In all, Gavan has 30 years’ experience leading business transformation, both as Managing Director and external consultant. He learned structured finance at Lloyds Bank, technology inspired business transformation at DEC and NCR, and business strategy development and delivery whilst at Ernst & Young.

He has managed, bought, sold, merged divested and changed businesses, as well as starting two companies and two business units from scratch. He has the experience to discuss all aspects of corporate needs and assess suitability of potential candidates. He has had a number of articles published and is regularly interviewed by the trade media and national press.

Gavan is a Vice President and Chair of the Management Committee of Sevenoaks Vine CC and, now, an occasional player in the veteran Old oaks side whom we sponsor.  He is a qualified cricket coach.

Memberships: Cornhill Club, Institute of Directors, Chartered Institute of Bankers, Federation of Small Businesses and the REC.
